Dear Parents,
We hope you and your families are keeping safe and well at this difficult and worrying time.
We contacted you before our Christmas Raffle in December outlining the financial difficulties faced by Oatlands College and our hope that we can help raise some much-needed funds for the school.
Our Christmas Raffle was our most successful raffle ever, raising €8,220. Thank you so much for your fantastic generosity and support!
As you may already be aware, there are plans to redevelop the playing pitches at the back of Oatlands College. Dun Laoghaire County Council have agreed to fund the development of an all-weather pitch, but this development is contingent upon Oatlands College upgrading the existing dressing rooms.
School management had prudently set aside money towards this upgrade. However, in order to comply with Covid-19 restrictions and to allow the school re open safely in September, the decision was made to install two new pre fabs at the back of the college. While these are state of the art and will benefit the College for many years to come, the installation of the pre fabs was unexpected and ultimately cost over €170,000.
Following approaches by parents in this regard, the Parents’ Council have now created a GoFundMe page for those who wish to assist the school financially and aid the development of a much-needed all-weather pitch. These upgrade works will benefit current and future Oatlands’ pupils and local sporting groups for many years to come.
Could you consider donating a portion of money saved last year due to cancelled holidays, postponed nights out, or even the cost of your weekly or monthly commute? Thank you to all of those who donate. Any amount is appreciated and 100% of all donations will benefit all the boys in the school.
Our target for this campaign is €50,000 and we have already raised over €8,000 with our Christmas Raffle. The GoFundMe page can be accessed by following this link : https://ie.gofundme.com/f/kick-off-the-pitch-appeal?qid=8ae1b85b411c56e4d2afc0be557a504e
The Covid-19 pandemic has shown us the importance of community, support, and friendship. Oatlands College is a strong school community where the education, welfare, and happiness of our sons is paramount. We look forward to strengthening these bonds as we work together for the benefit of all the boys in Oatlands College.
Please feel free to contact the Parents’ Council at any time via oatlandspc@gmail.com.
Keep safe and thank you.
